SETTING THE SCENE
The Cardinals went 5-3 in Empire 8 Conference play and 6-8 overall last season under first-year head coach Jason Byam. They reached the Empire 8 Postseason Tournament but fell to Alfred in the opening round.
St. John Fisher had one of the top singles players in the conference last year in Lily Miller, a two-time All-E8 selection who will be a senior this fall. Lilly Renzi, who graduated in May, also earned All-E8 singles honors last season. It marked the third straight year that she earned the honor.
St. John Fisher returns two other players – Anna Exford and Isabella Busch – who posted more than five singles wins during the 2025-26 season. Adriana Colafranceschi is one of the Cardinals’ top returning doubles players.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Lily Miller, Sr. – Miller led the Cardinals with an 8-3 overall singles record last season, posting each of those wins in the third singles spot. She went 6-0 in conference matches en route to becoming St. John Fisher’s first All-Empire 8 first-team selection since fall 2021. Miller also contributed to four doubles victories, all of them with Tiana Buttino, who graduated this past spring.
Anna Exford, Sr. – Exford finished the 2025-26 season with the team’s second-best singles record at 7-7, with six of those wins coming in the sixth singles spot. She went 5-2 against Empire 8 competition.
Isabella Busch, Sr. – Busch, who transferred to Fisher from Grove City last year, went 6-7 overall (4-2 Empire 8) in her first season as a Cardinal. She went 5-4 in fourth singles and 1-1 in second singles.
Adriana Colafranceschi, So. – Colafranceschi claimed four victories at second doubles during her freshman season. She also had a hand in four doubles wins.
DID YOU KNOW?
Miller’s 26 career singles victories are the fifth-most by a Cardinal in the last 20 seasons. Kaili Saffran holds the record in that span with 30 wins from 2017-20.
