PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University women's soccer team cruised to a 6-0 victory over Neumann (0-1) on Saturday afternoon at Growney Stadium, improving to 2-0 on the young season.
The Cardinals, who have outscored their first two opponents 10-2, had five different goal scorers in the contest. Junior forward Emily Woolingham led the offensive barrage, netting a pair of goals for the second straight game.
St. John Fisher finished with a 17-6 advantage in shots, including 11-4 in shots on goal.
Sophomore Isabella Ayers played all 90 minutes in goal, making four saves while earning credit for her sixth collegiate shutout.
How It Happened
On the attack from the jump, the Cardinals scored a pair of goals just more than 10 minutes in to take control.
Sophomore Moran Tara arched her first collegiate goal past Neumann keeper Shannon Duffy on a corner kick at 11:42. A minute later, senior Francesca Logrippo stole a Neumann pass before blasting a shot into the back of the net for her first tally of the season.
The Cardinals added one more to their lead late in the first half, as freshman Jillyan Ewing tapped in a shot on an assist from fellow freshman Molly Simmons.
Fisher's offensive dominance continued in the second half. Woolingham scored twice, with junior Abby Dorunda assisting on the second tally, before sophomore Brooklyn Olschewske added the Cardinals' sixth goal, cleaning up a rebound in front of the net off a shot that ricocheted off the crossbar.
