This year's game marks the 21st annual Courage Bowl, which benefits Camp Good Days and Special Times, Rochester-area organizations that support children and teenagers diagnosed with cancer and other diseases. Former St. John Fisher football assistant coach Gary Mervis founded Camp Good Days after his daughter, Teddi, was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor in 1979.

The Cardinals are 13-7 in Courage Bowl games. They snapped a seven-game losing streak in the event with a 31-24 overtime win over Brockport last year at Growney Stadium.
