Woolingham's Late Goal Not Enough As Women's Soccer Falls To Allegheny

MEADVILLE, Pa. — St. John Fisher women's soccer dropped a 3-1 decision at Allegheny on Saturday at Robertson Athletic Complex, despite holding a shot advantage through a scoreless first half. With the loss, the Cardinals move to 3-1-0 on the young season.

How It Happened

Fisher controlled the opening 45 minutes, out-shooting Allegheny 10-6, but neither team found the net as Isabella Ayers made two first-half saves for the Cardinals. Allegheny flipped the run of play after the break, out-shooting Fisher 18-6 in the second half and breaking through in the 54th minute before doubling its lead in the 79th.

Fisher answered in the 83rd minute when Emily Woolingham scored her fifth goal of the season off an assist from Molly Simmons, cutting the deficit to one. Allegheny responded later to restore the two-goal cushion and close out the 3-1 final.

Ayers finished with nine saves across the full match.
