PITTSFORD, N.Y. – St. John Fisher men's basketball sophomore forward/center Maximus Michalski has earned second-team All-Empire 8 Conference honors for the 2025-26 season.
Michalski, who made a major leap in his second collegiate season, led the Cardinals in multiple statistical categories, including scoring (12.0 points per game), shooting percentage (53.9%, 128-of-239) and rebounding (6.2 rebounds per game).
Additionally, junior guard Jonathan McCaffrey was selected as St. John Fisher's representative on the conference's "Tomorrow's Leaders Team." The Tomorrow's Leaders Team recognizes a student-athlete from each E8 team who has demonstrated leadership in competition, in the classroom and in the community.
A first-time All-Empire 8 selection, Michalski posted a team-leading three double-doubles this season, including a 14-point, 11-rebound performance in a win over Nazareth last Tuesday. He had 15 points and 10 boards in a win over Keuka on Jan. 16 and 11 points with 15 boards in a loss to Nazareth on Jan. 28.
The 6-foot-5 Michalski also became a formidable rim protector this year, as his 51 blocked shots still lead the Empire 8 and rank 21st nationally. He swatted three or more shots in 10 games and had five blocks in two of those contests.
The Cardinals finished the 2025-26 season 13-14 overall (8-8 E8 regular season). They upset No. 1-seeded Russell Sage in the first round of the conference tournament before falling to No. 5-seeded SUNY Brockport in the semifinals.
