Women's Ice Hockey Picks Up a 2-1 Win Over Albertus Magnus

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Freshman forward Keira Reckley scored two goals to lead the St. John Fisher women's ice hockey team to a 2-1 win over Albertus Magnus College on Friday afternoon. The Cardinals, who secured a spot in the United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) postseason tournament with the win, improved to 10-11-1 (5-5-1 UCHC) while the Falcons dropped to 14-7-1 (7-4-0 UCHC).

How it Happened

The Cardinals struck first just over three minutes into the opening period as Eibhleann Knox and Sophie Grant connected with Reckley, who buried a shot to give Fisher the early advantage.

The Falcons pulled even more than six minutes into the third period when Molly Martin found the back of the net to tie the game.

Just over a minute later, the Cardinals responded. Reckley netted her second goal of the game off assists from Cordelia Wemyss and Casey Turek, restoring Fisher's lead and shifting the momentum back in the Cardinals' favor.

Game Notes

  • Reckley recorded her second two-goal performance of the season and notched multiple points in a game for the fourth time.

  • Knox added an assist and now leads the team with eight on the season.

  • Freshman goaltender Brynn Bacak turned aside 29 shots, marking her 11th game this season with 29 or more saves.
