Men's Volleyball Wins Both in Day One of Fisher Quad

PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University men's volleyball team earned two straight-set wins over SUNY Polytechnic Institute and Nichols College on Friday at Manning & Napier Varsity Gym, winning against SUNY Poly 25-17, 25-23, 25-13 and defeating Nichols 25-12, 26-24, 25-19.

How It Happened

Fisher set the tone early, hitting .522 in the opening set and pulling away late to take a 25-17 advantage. The second set proved tighter, with SUNY Poly pushing throughout, but the Cardinals closed strong to secure a 25-23 win and take a 2-0 match lead. Fisher took control early in the third set, hitting .409 while limiting SUNY Poly to a .077 hitting percentage to close out the match. Overall, the Cardinals finished the match hitting .362 and recorded eight team blocks while holding SUNY Poly to .180 hitting.

How It Happened

Fisher controlled the opening set, holding Nichols to a negative hitting percentage while pulling away for a 25-12 win. The second set was tighter, with multiple lead changes, but the Cardinals closed late to take a 26-24 advantage. Fisher stayed in control in the third set, hitting .344 while limiting Nichols to .167 to close out the match in three sets. Overall, the Cardinals hit .301 as a team and finished with 11 service aces and eight total blocks.
