PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher men's ice hockey team went 0-for-6 on power-play chances in a 5-1 United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) loss to Chatham on Friday night at the Rochester Ice Center.
The Cardinals dropped to 9-8-0 overall and 3-6-0 in UCHC play with the loss. Chatham, winners of its last six straight games, improved to 14-2-0 overall and 5-2-0 in league play.
How It Happened
After a scoreless first 20 minutes, the Cougars broke the game open with three unanswered goals in the second period. Caden Pendo opened the scoring about three minutes in, Bekk McClaine made it 2-0 at the 18:21 mark and Michael Roby scored on a power-play opportunity in the final minute of the period to make it 3-0.
Freshman defender Charlie Robinson got one back for the Cardinals 1:17 into the third period, but they couldn't pull any closer. Breyden Zupsansky pushed Chatham's lead back to three goals, 4-1, with a tally at the 8:00 mark, and Andrew Martino scored on the game's final tally on the power play at 19:25.
The Cardinals went 0-for-3 on the power play in the final period, with one of those opportunities coming right after Robinson's goal. Chatham finished 2-for-4.
St. John Fisher senior goalkeeper Sebastian Woods finished the contest with 16 saves. Chatham's Cameron Kuntar made 37 stops.
Pendo and McClaine each tallied two points for Chatham, finishing with a goal and an assist apiece.

The Cardinals face Chatham again at noon on Saturday. Initially scheduled for 5:30 p.m., the game had to be moved up due to the impending winter storm.
