ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University women's tennis team (3-1, 3-0 Empire 8) won its third consecutive dual match with a 4-3 victory over Alfred University (5-3, 2-2 Empire 8) on Friday night at the Midtown Athletic Club.
The Cardinals swept the Saxons in doubles to earn the point and recorded three wins in singles action. Junior Anna Exford had the decisive win, taking down Alexis Gits 7-5 and 6-4 to secure the victory for the Cardinals.
Fisher won three of the final four singles matches after Alfred claimed the first two.
Seniors Lilly Renzi and Eliana Kelly recorded their first win of the season as doubles partners. Freshman Adriana Colafranceschi and Maddy Langley appeared in their first match as a tandem and earned a narrow victory over Gits and Allison Windisch.
Junior Lily Miller and senior Tiana Buttino improved to 3-1 as a team.
In singles, Miller improved to 4-0 overall, besting Alyssa Seegert 6-0 and 6-2. Isabella Busch fell 4-6 in set No. 1 to Becca Epping before taking the second set 6-0 and the third 6-4 to improve to 3-1.
Exford also bumped her singles record to 3-1 with her match-sealing win.
