PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher men's soccer team got off to a strong start but couldn't sustain that early momentum in a 4-2 loss to Utica on Wednesday night at Growney Stadium. The Cardinals dropped to 0-7-1 overall (0-2-1 Empire 8), and the Pioneers improved to 4-2-1 (1-0-1 Empire 8).

Junior forward Jack Tamburino scored his third goal of the season on an assist from senior midfielder Nick Rippe to give the Cardinals a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute.

The Pioneers tied the game on Noah Nassberg's unassisted tally at 23:39 and took a 2-1 lead when Jalen Lucero buried a feed from Gian Catrombone in the 34th minute. Byamungu Mugushu and Mason Bucher added on in the second half to give Utica a 4-1 lead.

The Cardinals got back on the board in the 88th minute as senior midfielder Tommy Mullane found the back of the net to make it 4-2.
