U of R Scores Three Second-Half Goals To Down Men's Soccer

PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Sebastian Ballesteros scored two goals to lead the University of Rochester men's soccer team to a 3-1 victory over St. John Fisher on Wednesday night at Growney Stadium. The Cardinals fell to 0-5-1, while the Yellowjackets moved to 3-2-2.

How It Happened

  • After a scoreless first half, Ballesteros opened the scoring early in the second half, finding the back of the net on a feed from Milos Bisenic. About a minute later, Tyler Moran forced a Fisher turnover and tapped the ball ahead to Johnny Makula, who finished a wide-open shot to give the Yellowjackets a two-goal edge.

  • The Cardinals cut their deficit in half at the 58:01 mark on junior Jack Tamburino's penalty kick goal.

  • Ballesteros blasted a long-range shot into the top right corner of the net for his second goal of the night about 10 minutes later to put Rochester ahead 3-1. Mikey Burke had the assist on the tally.

Game Notes

  • Tamburino's goal marked his second of the season.

  • Freshman goalkeeper Parker Stusek made three saves.
