HOUGHTON, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher women's tennis team claimed five of six singles matches in a 5-2 Empire 8 Conference victory over Houghton on Tuesday night.
The victory marked the Cardinals' first under Jason Byam, who became the program's head coach shortly before the season began.
Lily Miller and Anna Exford won their second singles matches of the season, with Miller beating Clancey Cockle (6-3, 6-1) and Exford edging Abigail Lloyd (6-0, 3-6, 6-0) in three sets. Lilly Renzi topped Arja Grant (6-1, 6-2), Isabella Busch topped Zoe Zachary (6-1, 6-2) and Paige Kopolow topped Victoria Martinez (6-3, 6-3) for their first singles wins of the season.
Miller and senior Tiana Buttino earned their second win of the season as a tandem, but Houghton took two of the three doubles matches to claim the point.
