BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher baseball team (11-12, 6-3 Empire 8 Conference) was blanked 7-0 by SUNY Brockport (19-2-1, 8-0 Empire 8) on Monday afternoon at Clark V. Whited Complex.
How It Happened
Brockport pitcher Zach Eldred worked seven shutout innings and earned his fifth victory of the season. He allowed three hits, issued three walks and struck out six batters.
Eric Servellon pitched the eighth and ninth innings in relief, striking out four batters and walking one. He gave up just one hit.
Brockport scored a run in the first inning and three in the second en route to a 4-0 lead. The Cardinals kept their deficit there until the seventh inning, when Eldred hit a two-run home run to give the Golden Eagles a 6-0 lead.
Jason Mansell added the seventh run in the eighth inning with a sacrifice fly to center field.
Freshman Jordan Perry had two of the Cardinals' four hits in the ballgame. He had a double and a single.
