Men's Lacrosse Ends Regular Season With 29-3 Win Over Hartwick On Senior Day

PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher men's lacrosse team closed the regular season with a 29-3 Senior Day victory over Hartwick College on Saturday afternoon at Growney Stadium. 

With the win, the Cardinals improved to 13-4 overall and 9-0 in Empire 8 Conference play, while Hartwick fell to 8-6 and 6-3 in the Empire 8. The Cardinals have won their last 44 games in a row against Empire 8 teams since 2019, a streak that includes regular-season and postseason contests. 

The Cardinals, the conference's regular-season champions, will begin postseason play against No. 4-seeded Hartwick or No. 5-seeded SUNY Brockport on Thursday, May 1, in the Empire 8 Semifinals. 

With two assists in the contest, fifth-year senior Timmy Salit (106 career assists) passed Ian Evans (105 career assists) for third on Fisher's all-time assists list. He now has 194 career points, tied for the fourth-most in program history.

Game Notes

  • Mason added a goal and two assists, bringing his career total to 184 points, which ranks eighth all-time at Fisher. He leads Fisher this season with 42 goals and 63 total points. 

  • Kesselring led all scorers with four goals, pushing his season total to 27, the second most on the team. 

  • Ringgold notched his second career hat trick, finishing with three goals on five shots.

  • Robbie Salit posted his third three-goal game of the year and added an assist for four points.

  • The Cardinals had 14 players record at least two points in the contest. Four others tallied one point. 

  • Tyler Manning earned the win in net, allowing just one goal with three saves in the first half. Jack Gullo played the second half and made five saves.

  • Fisher outshot Hartwick 71-20 (45-11 on goal), won the ground ball battle 58-23 and went a perfect 21-for-21 on clears.

  • The Cardinals won 33 of 36 faceoffs, led by Bryce Riffel (16-for-18), Scott Reeves (10-for-11) and Jaden Tantillo (7-for-7).

The top-seeded Cardinals will face No. 4-seeded Hartwick or No. 5-seeded Brockport at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 1, in the Empire 8 Semifinals at Growney Stadium.
