PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher women's lacrosse team scored a program-record 27 goals in a Senior Day shutout of the SUNY Poly Wildcats on Saturday afternoon at Growney Stadium.
The Cardinals (12-0 overall, 5-0 Empire 8) have won 17 straight regular-season contests and 59 consecutive games (regular season and postseason) against Empire 8 Conference teams. Linda Michele, who has 222 overall wins in her collegiate coaching career, needs just one more victory to reach 200 as St. John Fisher's head coach.
With five assists, senior midfielder Sydney Carpenter pushed her career total to 122, tying Jordan Johnson (2014-17) for the most in program history. Carpenter, who recently leaped Johnson for second in program history in total points, also scored twice as part of a seven-point performance.
How It Happened

The Cardinals had the running clock turned on in the first quarter, blitzing the Wildcats with 12 goals in the opening frame. Carpenter and fellow seniors Farrah Zalla (four goals) and Hanna Kumpf (three goals, one assist) recorded all of their points for the game in the opening quarter.

The Cardinals added six more goals in the second quarter, with junior Sydney Closinski accounting for three of them. Juniors Kayla Schatz, Kaley Griffin and Alivia Nieman scored one goal apiece in the quarter.

Fisher poured on four more goals in the third quarter and five in the fourth to shatter the program's previous single-game goals record (25).

The Cardinals' defense allowed just one shot on goal and caused 16 SUNY Poly turnovers in the shutout, the team's first of the season.
