Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Trinity Downs No. 15 Men's Lacrosse 16-12 Behind Big Third Quarter

PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Trinity College (4-2, 0-2 NESCAC) used a seven-goal third quarter to push past the No. 15 St. John Fisher men's lacrosse team (4-2, 0-0 Empire 8) 16-12 on Saturday afternoon at Growney Stadium.

How It Happened
  • The Cardinals and Batams traded goals less than a minute apart in the first quarter, with freshman JP Revitte getting the Cardinals on the board first at the 8:00 mark. Trinity's Miles Harvey tied the game at 7:17.

  • Senior Ethan Kesselring put the Cardinals ahead 2-1 with about four minutes remaining in the first quarter. Less than two minutes later, Kesselring ripped a shot that bounced off Trinity goalkeeper Jordan Opdahl and into the air. Senior Braeden McNeill leaped, caught the rebound and scored while tumbling to the turf, giving the Cardinals a 3-1 lead.

  • Trinity's Jake Connors and Jay Ottomanelli tied the game with back-to-back goals to end the first quarter.

  • Fifth-year senior Jordan Leuze broke the 3-3 tie early in the second quarter, burying a goal on an assist by McNeill. Connors tied the game at four, and Ottomanelli tallied back-to-back goals to give Trinity a three-goal lead.

  • Fifth-year senior Timmy Salit brought the ball around the cage and scored on a diving attempt to end Trinity's two-goal run. He recorded his second assist of the game on junior midfielder Brett Seaman's second goal of the season, which tied the game at six just before halftime.

  • Trinity's offense caught fire again in the second half, as the Bantams scored five unanswered goals to take an 11-6 third-quarter lead. Harvey accounted for two of the goals during that stretch.

  • The Cardinals' scoreless drought ended when senior Colin Blakeslee scored on a feed from Kesselring, but the Bantams quickly responded with a pair of goals about two minutes apart to push their lead to six, 13-7.

  • Just a tick before the third-quarter buzzer, sophomore Sean Donaldson scored on a feed from Revitte to cut Fisher's deficit to 13-8. That gave the Cardinals momentum heading into the fourth quarter, as Revitte, Seaman and Donaldson scored in the first six minutes to make it 13-11.

  • Trinity held off the Cardinals over the final eight minutes, scoring three more times to finish off the 16-12 victory.
