PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher men's volleyball team improved to 10-1 overall on Friday night with victories over Marymount University (Va.) and Endicott College at Manning and Napier Varsity Gym.
The Cardinals beat Marymount 3-1 to start the night and capped it with a three-set sweep of Endicott. Six of their 10 victories so far this season have been sweeps.
Match 1: St. John Fisher 3, Marymount 1

The Cardinals won the first set 25-18 and the second 25-20 before falling 25-23 in the third. They secured the match victory in the fourth set, dominating the Saints 25-14.

The Cardinals hit .343 as a team, while Marymount hit just a shade above .200. Fisher had 55 kills to Marymount's 35.

Freshman Coleton Welter led the Cardinals with 15 kills, a season-high.

Graduate senior Griffin Stella had 10 kills and logged a .600 hitting percentage, while senior Ian Rauh had nine kills and hit .500.

Gavin Newman recorded 40 assists and four service aces, both match highs. He also had a team-high two blocks.

Newman has tallied 40 or more assists in four matches this season.

Senior Trace La Robardiere recorded nine digs, a match-high.

The Cardinals won the first set 25-17, the second 29-27 and the third 25-15.

Welter and Rauh led the Cardinals with 10 kills apiece. Rauh, who also had two blocks in the match, registered a team-high .615 hitting percentage. Stella had four kills and led Fisher with three blocks.

Welter and Sonepith Keoviengsamay led Fisher with two service aces apiece.

Newman tallied 34 more assists, crossing 300 for the season through 11 matches.
