No. 13 Men's Volleyball Sweeps Nichols, Falls To No. 6 Juniata On Saturday

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The No. 13 St. John Fisher men's volleyball team (14-2, 2-0 UVC) split its doubleheader at the Juniata Eagles Invite on Saturday, sweeping Nichols before falling to No. 6 Juniata 3-0 to complete a three-match road weekend. 

Match 1: St. John Fisher 3, Nichols 0

  • Freshman Evan Hernandez slammed a career-high 16 kills and hit .600 as Fisher beat Nichols 25-19, 25-21 and 25-23. Fellow freshman Coleton Welter had seven kills, and senior Ian Rauh had six while hitting .455. 

  • Senior Evan Ingerick, junior Casey Jackson, Rauh and Welter recorded service aces for the Cardinals. 

  • Ingerick led the Cardinals with a match-high 31 assists, his second-most in a match this season. 

  • Sophomore Guillermo Perez tallied three blocks, tying his career high. Hernandez had two. 

  • Senior libero Trace La Robardiere recorded a match-high eight digs. He also amassed three assists.

Match 2: St. John Fisher 0, No. 6 Juniata 3

  • No. 6 Juniata won the first set 25-16, the second 25-20 and the third 25-13. Juniata had .566 as a team and tallied 39 kills to Fisher's 24. 

  • Graduate senior Griffin Stella led the way for Fisher, recording eight kills while logging a .636 hitting percentage. He also had three blocks, a match-high. 

  • Jackson had four kills and hit .600; Rauh finished with five kills. 

  • Senior setter Gavin Newman had 20 assists and one service ace.
