PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Nazareth ran away from the St. John Fisher University women's basketball team in the second quarter en route to a 74-53 victory on Tuesday night at Kidera Gymnasium.
The Cardinals, who closed the regular season 18-7 overall (13-3 Empire 8), have the No. 3 seed for the E8 Conference Tournament and will face No. 6-seeded Houghton at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Manning and Napier Varsity Gymnasium. Nazareth (19-6, 13-3 E8) has the No. 4 seed and will host No. 5-seeded Russell Sage on Saturday.
Fisher and Nazareth split this season's Battle of the Beaks series (1-1).
How It Happened

Junior Hannah Ferguson put the Cardinals ahead 19-18 with a jumper to start the second quarter, but the game started to get away from Fisher after that. Nazareth went on an 18-0 run that lasted nearly nine minutes to take a 36-19 lead and outscored Fisher 26-4 in the second quarter in all.

The Cardinals, who had 21 turnovers in a loss to Russell Sage on Saturday, continued to have issues taking care of the ball against the Golden Flyers. They finished Tuesday's game with 22 turnovers, which Nazareth turned into 22 points.

Nazareth dominated the Cardinals in the paint, finishing with a 42-12 advantage in that category.
