PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Two St. John Fisher University men's ice hockey players have earned weekly honors after leading the Cardinals to a 2-0 weekend in the Vermont State Castleton Tournament.
Dylan Grover (Freshman, Men's Ice Hockey) – Empire 8 Conference & United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) Goaltender of the Week
Grover allowed just two goals while making 62 saves for a .966 save percentage in Fisher's wins over SUNY Brockport and Vermont State Castleton. He made 27 saves in a 4-2 victory over Brockport on Friday and stopped 35 shots in a 5-0 blanking of Castleton on Saturday. The shutout marked the first in program history.
Sam Ciappa (Freshman, Men's Ice Hockey) – UCHC Rookie of the Week
Ciappa recorded four points on a goal and three assists over the weekend. He had a goal and an assist against Borckport and two assists against Castleton.
Ciappa has earned weekly honors from the UCHC twice this season. He was named Player of the Week on Nov. 24.
