FAIRPORT, N.Y. –The St. John Fisher men's ice hockey team dropped a 5-2 decision to Albertus Magnus College on Saturday evening at the Rochester Ice Center. The Cardinals fell to 5-3-0 overall (2-2-0 UCHC), while Albertus Magnus College moved to 4-3-0 overall (1-3-0 UCHC) with the victory.
How it Happened
Kyle Dann opened the scoring for the Falcons less than 13 minutes into the first period.
With 30 seconds remaining in the opening period, Kenneth Brodie fired a shot off a rebound from Brendan Merriman that resulted in a power-play goal to tie the game for the Cardinals. The Cardinals gained the lead when Mike Markowski connected with Sam Ciappa, who found the back of the net less than three minutes into the second period.
Three minutes later, the Falcons tied the score at two when Zane Knidrachuk tallied a power-play goal. Under ten minutes into the period, Albertus maintained its momentum as Maksim Teseglnik fired a shot to give the Falcons the lead.
Sam Witt scored another power-play goal to extend the advantage less than five minutes into the second period. Kyler Campbell added an empty-net goal in the final minute to put a cap on the victory for Albertus Magnus.Â
