ELMIRA, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher women's ice hockey team earned a point with a 1-1 road tie against Elmira on Saturday night. The result moved the Cardinals to 2-3-1 overall (0-1-1 UCHC) and Elmira, which edged Fisher in a shootout, to 4-1-1 (1-0-1 UCHC).Â
How it Happened
The Cardinals opened strong, with Kiera Reckley finding the back of the net off a pass from Jaliey Wilson to give Fisher a 1-0 lead ten minutes into the first period.
Elmira tied it ten minutes into the second period on a goal by Anna Lugge.
After 20 minutes of regulation and five minutes of overtime, the score remained 1-1, sending the game to a shootout, during which the Cardinals couldn't get the puck past Elmira goaltender Sara Sevcikova. The Soaring Eagles also came up empty until Alayna Toole beat Brynn Bacak to end the shootout.
