Women's Ice Hockey Tripped Up By Elmira

FAIRPORT, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University women's ice hockey team fell to Elmira College 3-1 in its first-ever United Collegiate Hockey Conference contest on Friday night inside the Rochester Ice Center. The Cardinals are now 2-3 overall (0-1 UCHC), and the Soaring Eagles advanced to 4-1 overall (1-0 UCHC).

How it Happened

After a scoreless first period. Elmira's MK Boyle opened the scoring just over a minute into the second. Less than two minutes later, the Soaring Eagles struck again, that time with Alayna Toole finding the back of the net.

The Cardinals found a spark when Eibhleann Knox and Ellie Pranter set up Sophie Grant to cut the deficit to one just more than eight minutes into the second period.

With under five minutes remaining in the period, Boyle recorded her second goal of the night to restore Elmira's two-goal lead. It stood as the final goal of the game.

Game Notes

  • Freshman goaltender Brynn Bacak made 35 saves while in the net for the Cardinals, her second game this season with 30 or more saves.
