PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher women's soccer team will face host Johns Hopkins in the first round of the NCAA Division III Tournament at 5 p.m. on Saturday at Homewood Field in Baltimore, Maryland.
The winner would move on to face Virginia Wesleyan (15-3-3) or Stevens (11-3-6) at 7 p.m. on Sunday.
The Cardinals (13-4-2) beat top-seeded Brockport 1-0 in overtime on Saturday to capture the program's first-ever Empire 8 Conference title and national tournament bid. They pushed their winning streak to seven games and reached 13 wins for the first time since 1983 with the victory.
Johns Hopkins (15-4-1), which has made the NCAA Tournament 20 seasons in a row, topped Swarthmore 2-1 in the Centennial Conference Championship game to earn an automatic bid to the tournament. The Blue Jays won the DIII national championship in 2022 and have advanced past the first weekend 13 times in their last 22 NCAA Tournament appearances.
Saturday's contest will mark the second matchup between St. John Fisher and Johns Hopkins. The Blue Jays beat the Cardinals 3-0 during the first weekend of the 2014 season in the St. Mary's Seahawk Invite.
