BUFFALO, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher men's hockey team (1-1) fell to Chatham University (2-0) 3-2 in the Buffalo State Tournament on Saturday night.
How it Happened
Just over a minute into the first period, Carter Cwiklinski opened the scoring, with Elijah Devereaux picking up the assist. Eight minutes later, Chatham's Andrew Martino found the back of the net to even the score.
With under nine minutes remaining in the opening period, Tyler Samondral scored to give the Cougars a 2-1 lead. Samondral tallied his second goal of the game early in the second period, extending Chatham's lead to two goals.
Devereaux capitalized on a perfect pass from Sebastian Woods to cut the deficit to one going into the final period, but the Cardinals couldn't find the back of the net again as Chatham hung on for the victory.
