PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University men's basketball team had one of its most complete performances of the season on Saturday as it beat Elmira College 96-75 at Manning and Napier Varsity Gym.
The Cardinals improved to 6-11 overall (2-6 Empire 8), while the Soaring Eagles dropped to 5-12 (7-12 Empire 8). Fisher has won 38 straight games against Elmira dating back to the 2005-06 season.

The Cardinals, who've become accustomed to trailing early and having to battle back, got ahead early and never looked back on Saturday against the Soaring Eagles. They started the game on a 21-5 run that lasted more than five minutes and led by double digits for almost the rest of the half.

Senior forward Connor Williams knocked down a pair of 3-pointers for six points during the Cardinals' game-opening run. Freshman forward Maximus Michalski, who made his sixth start of the season, had four points and two assists in that stretch.

Senior guard Cole Thompson led Fisher with 17 points while shooting 3 of 6 from three and 2 of 2 from the foul line in the first half. Williams had 10 of his points in the first 20 minutes.

The Cardinals maintained a 15- to 20-point lead for most of the second half. They had their largest lead (25 points) with 5:20 to play.

Michalski tied his season-high with 14 points on 7 of 10 shooting. He has scored in double figures in three of the Cardinals' last four games.

Michalski also pulled down seven rebounds, tallied two assists, blocked a shot and took a charge in the contest.

Williams led the Cardinals with 15 points while shooting 6 of 11 overall, including 3 of 4 from 3-point range. He also grabbed six rebounds and dished out five assists.

Thompson (14) and freshman forward Parker Rey (14) also scored in double figures for the Cardinals. Senior forward Eric Kegler and freshman guard Ryan McCarthy each had seven.

The Cardinals' 96 points scored marked a season high. They have scored 90 or more twice this season.
