Field Hockey Falls To Elizabethtown

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – The St. John Fisher University field hockey team scored a season-high three goals but fell to 0-3 overall on Saturday afternoon with a 4-3 loss to Elizabethtown at Wolf Field. 

The Cardinals scored twice in the first period to take a 2-0 lead and broke a 2-2 tie in the third. Elizabethtown rallied in the fourth, scoring twice to earn the victory. 

Emma Cooper, assisted by Molly Fisher, scored 53 seconds into the game to put the Cardinals ahead 1-0. Anna Melfi made it 2-0 minutes later (6:20) with an unassisted tally. 

Elizabethtown struck back with two goals of its own – one in the first period, another in the second – to tie the contest. 

The Cardinals retook the lead in the third, going ahead 3-2 on Audrey Grieb's second goal of the season. Mary Kate McPhee recorded her second assist of the year on that play. 

Riley Stephan and Drew Bridges scored in the fourth for Elizabethtown. 

Fisher goalkeepers Morgan Parrinello and Senja Matson made five saves. Parrinello, a freshman playing in her first collegiate game, made three saves.

The Cardinals will look to win their first game of the season when they face Marywood on Sunday at noon.
