ALBANY, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University field hockey team opened Empire 8 play on Saturday afternoon with an 8-3 victory over Russell Sage at Bob Ford Field at Tom & Mary Casey Stadium.
The Cardinals, winners of three of their last four games, improved to 3-5 overall. Their eight goals marked a season-high and their most in a game since they scored eight last October at Elmira.

The Cardinals fell behind 2-0 early in the first period before scoring three unanswered goals. They outscored Sage 7-1 from the start of the second quarter on.

Senior forward Molly Fisher scored three goals in the contest. She's now scored multiple goals in eight games during her collegiate career.

Fisher, who tallied six points in the win, has scored multiple goals in two of Fisher's last four games. She has recorded multiple points in three games in that same span.

Senior forward Emma Cooper had three assists, a season-high.

Cooper also scored a goal and finished with five points.

Senior forward Audrey Grieb scored twice. She's had four points in two of the Cardinals' last three games.

It was Grieb's first multi-goal game since she scored four times against Utica last October.

Senior goalkeeper Senja Matson made three saves and earned credit for the victory, her second of the season.
