MENDON, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher women's tennis team beat Houghton College 7-2 on Tuesday evening for its first victory of the season at the Mendon Racquet and Pool Club.
The Cardinals, now 1-2 overall and 1-0 in the Empire 8, won two of three matches in doubles action and five of six in singles.
Doubles Notes

The Cardinals earned their first doubles victory of the season when Lilly Renzi and Sydney Emerson beat Zoey Zachery and Myakay Bartman 8-5 in doubles match No. 2.

Lilly Miller and Eliana Kelly beat Kelsi Clapper and Clancey Cockle 8-2 in doubles match No. 3.
Singles Notes

Renzi, a junior, improved to 3-0 in singles. She swept Arija Grant, winning the first match 6-3 and the second 6-2.

Miller won her first singles match of the season, beating Cockle 6-1 and 6-2.

Senior Grace Fisher won her second straight singles match. She beat Myakay Bartman 6-2 and 6-1.

Junior Eliana Kelly beat Zoey Zachery 6-1 and 6-0 for her first singles win of the year.

Junior Paige Kopolow also earned her first singles win of the year. Against Kelsi Clapper, she dropped the first set 4-6 before winning the second 6-3 and the third 10-8.
