CORTLAND, N.Y. – Junior Lilly Renzi and senior Grace Fisher recorded singles wins in the St. John Fisher women's tennis team's Friday afternoon match against SUNY Cortland, but the Cardinals fell 5-2 to the Red Dragons at the Cortland Varsity Tennis Courts.
Renzi, now 2-0 on the season, beat Mary Repass 2-1 in the No. 2 match. After losing the first set 6-1, she rallied to win the second set 6-1 and secured the win 10-3 in a super tiebreaker.
Fisher earned her first victory of the season in the No. 4 match, beating Alexandra Thut 2-0. She took the first set 6-1 and the second 6-0.
Cortland won the other four singles matches and swept the Cardinals (3-0) in doubles action.
