PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University men's lacrosse team is headed to the Empire 8 finals after a semi-finals victory over Hartwick College, 30-7.
The 30 goals were the most for Fisher all season.
The Cardinals were in control throughout the game, opening up an 11-0 lead by the end of the first quarter and never looking back. The win means they'll play for their fifth straight conference title on Saturday at Growney Stadium.
Three different players scored at least four goals: Brady Mason, Matthew Kemmis, and Ethan Kesselring. Senior Timmy Salit had three. Mason finished the game with a team-high eight points. A total of 15 Cardinals scored at least one goal in the win.
In net, senior Ben Hammond earned the win, allowing three goals in 38:57 minutes while making seven saves. He was then relieved by Tyler Manning and Jack Gullo.
The Cardinals' opponent on Saturday is Nazareth University, who beat Alfred 16-8 in the other semifinal. Game time is to be determined.
