Men’s Lacrosse comes back for 18-13 win over Hartwick

ONEONTA, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University men's lacrosse team, trailing 7-5 at halftime, came back for an 18-13 win over the Hartwick College Hawks on Saturday in Oneonta. 

 

The Cardinals fell behind first in the first quarter, 2-0, but then scored three unanswered to take a 3-2 lead with six minutes left in the quarter. Hartwick answered by outscoring Fisher 5-2 the rest of the first half to go in the midway point with the lead. It wasn't until late in the third quarter, with 3:16 left in the period, that the Cardinals moved ahead for good, thanks to a man-up goal by sophomore Keaton Piconi, assisted by sophomore Brett Seaman. Fisher ultimately outscored Hartwick 13-6 in the second half. 

 

Four Cardinals had hat-tricks on the day: junior Brady Mason, sophomore Lane Edinger, senior Matthew Kemmis, and junior Braeden McNeill. Kemmis led all players in points, with six, thanks to three assists. Other major contributors included Piconi (two goals), junior Ethan Kesselring (two goals, two assists), and freshman Sean Donaldson (three assists). Sophomore Tanner Johnson led the team in groundballs, with five, while also notching an assist. Junior Jack Cornell forces two turnovers.

 

Senior Ben Hammond and sophomore Tyler Manning split time in net, with Hammond making four saves in just over 33 minutes while allowing seven goals as he earned the win. Manning made a save in just under 27 minutes of play. 

 

The Cardinals return to play on Friday, April 12, at arch-rival Nazareth University. Gametime is 4:30 P.M.
