PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University men's tennis team were at home on Friday to take on Alfred University in an Empire 8 contest. The Cardinals took control early in the doubles matches, and capped it off with an impressive showing in the singles to win 8-1.
Prior to the match the Cardinals honored their three seniors,
Zach DeCaro,
Anthony Molosag and
Ryan Wilson, thanking them for all they have done for the program.
The winning got started with
Will Chubb and
Tyler Hernandez securing the victory, 8-4. That was followed by
Ryan Wilson and
Mika'il Iqbal winning their duo match, 8-3 to give the Cardinals a 2-1 lead going into the singles.
Fisher secured all six singles matches. Hernandez and
Anthony Molosag were victorious by the score of 6-2, 6-2. Chubb faced the toughest challenge, going three sets, but winning the first and the third, 6-1, 6-1. Wilson handled business in straight sets, 6-1, 7-6, while Iqbal was dominant going 6-2, 6-3.
Zach DeCaro wrapped things up with a senior day win, taking the first set 6-3 and second set 6-4.
Up next for Fisher is another home game on Saturday, April 20. The Cardinals will take on Houghton University at Mendon Racquet Club at 1 p.m.
