PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The sixth-ranked St. John Fisher University men's volleyball swept Elmira in three sets on Friday night.
The Cardinals took the win 25-19, 25-20, and 25-17 over the Soaring Eagles, notching their third straight win in the process.
Despite the 3-0 victory, Fisher was challenged at times by Elmira, who briefly held the lead early in the first set and and led the Cardinals by as much as four during the second set. Each time, however, Fisher was able to come back and retake the lead and the set.
Senior Jake Baker and sophomore Casey Jackson led the Cardinals in kills, with eight each. Jackson also held the match lead in aces, with four. Senior Griffin Stella paced the Cardinals in blocks with six and also had six kills.
Junior Gavin Newman notched 22 assists, while junior Trace La Robardiere had 10 digs.
Fisher returns to action on Friday, March 29, when they host the MIT Engineers at Manning-Napier Gym for Senior Night. Gametime is 6:00 P.M.
