PITTSFORD, N.Y – The St. John Fisher University men's volleyball team hosted a doubleheader on Saturday against no. 9 ranked Vassar College and no. 3 ranked Southern Virginia. Fisher split the day beating Vassar 3-2 but falling to Southern Virgina 3-0.

Fisher 3 – Vassar 2 (20-25, 25-20, 25-13, 22-25, 15-11)
The Cardinals dropped the first set against Vassar 20-25 but bounced back in the second set 25-20. Down 19-18 Fisher went on a 7-1 run to take the set. The third set saw Fisher take the win in dominating fashion, 25-13. The Brewers evened it up at 2-2 with a fourth set victory. In the fifth set the Cardinals would not be denied and win 15-11.

Fisher was led by Jake Baker and Ian Rauh with 15 kills apiece. Gavin Newman provided some stellar serving with his nine aces. Newman also had 45 assists in the match.

Fisher 0 – 3 Southern Virgina (21-25,18-25, 19-25)  
In the second match of the day Fisher lost three sets in a row giving them just the second loss of the season. Baker and Rauh once again led the team in Kills. Baker had nine kills and Rauh with seven. Trace La Robardiere had the most Digs on the team with ten.

Up next the Cardinals travel to California to take on the University of California, Santa Cruz. The contest is scheduled for March 7^th at 9 p.m.
