ATLANTA – The Women's Basketball Coaches Association announced its Division III honors on Wednesday, with St. John Fisher University junior guard Sidney Tomasso earning an All-America Honorable Mention.
 
The team was selected by the WBCA NCAA Division III Awards Committee from coaches and student-athletes who are nominated by WBCA member coaches.
 
This season, the Waverly native won the Empire 8's Player of the Year award as well as a place on the All-Conference first team during the regular season. Playing and starting in 22 of the team's 25 games, Tomasso finished first on the team in points per game (16.0, second-best in the conference) and second in overall points (351). She was third in the conference in free-throw percentage (.785) and finished the regular season in eighth in the conference in rebounds per game (6.9) and field goal percentage (.423).
 
Tomasso went on to win the MVP award during the conference tournament by scoring 34 points (17.0 per game) in the tournament, including a team-high 21 points in the finals victory over Houghton. During the NCAA tournament, she averaged 17 points per game and 5.5 rebounds as the Cardinals advanced to the second round. 
 
This is just Tomasso's latest post-season award: on Tuesday she was named to the Region III All-Region team by D3Hoops.com.
