Women’s Basketball cruises past Utica, 87-36

PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Freshman forward Joleen Lusk tied her career high with 26 points as the St. John Fisher University women's basketball team beat Utica, 87-36, on Tuesday night.

The Cardinals never trailed in the game and at one point led by as many as 53 points, with 12 players putting points on the board for the night. The team had a 24-10 after the first quarter, led 40-21 at the half, and had extended the lead to 69-26 by the end of the third quarter.

Lusk, who earlier scored 26 back on November 16 against RIT, also tallied seven rebounds, three steals, and two assists. Sophomore guard Presleigh Brunner was second on the team in scoring, with 16 points. Freshman guard Madeline Ramsgard also impressed and at times threatened to record a triple-double with eight points, a team-high nine rebounds, and a team-high eight assists.

Defensively, senior guard Claire Kruszka led the team with five steals.

Bench players recorded 24 points for the Cardinals on Tuesday, led by freshman forward Alexa Gibson, with nine.

The Cardinals, still undefeated in the Empire 8 and winners of 18 straight, travel on Thursday to Houghton for their second-to-last game of the regular season, facing the Highlanders at 5:30 P.M.
