Cardinals Fall To Nazareth In Empire 8 Semi-Finals

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University men's basketball team was on the road on Thursday for an Empire 8 Championship semi-final contest against Nazareth University. The closely contested game went down to the wire, but the Cardinals were unable to come away with the win, falling by a final score of 92-85.

The Cardinals jumped out to an 8-0 lead on Nazareth, but the Golden Flyers were persistent and clawed back to take a 24-23 advantage over Fisher. The two teams traded points and a late layup by Matt Lettko cut the score to 37-36 in favor of the opposition. As the second-half began, points by Daniel Cook helped push the team in front by four, but once again Nazareth answered every point with scores of their own. As the game reached its conclusion, the teams traded free-throws and Fisher was unable to secure the victory, falling 92-85.

Cook led the way with 31 points on 10-for-19 shooting, while also grabbing 16 rebounds. Brendan McRoy added 17 points of his with five rebounds and three assist.
