PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University men's basketball team continues its Empire 8 schedule this weekend, hosting Elmira College on Friday before taking on Alfred University on Saturday.

Friday tips off at 7:30 p.m., while Saturday's game starts at 4 p.m.

Here's what you need to know:

Last Time Out
The Cardinals beat Keuka on Tuesday, 86-81, behind a 30-point night by sophomore guard Brendan McRoy. The win was Fisher's third straight and kept them firmly in the top three of the Empire 8 standings.

Know Your Foe (Part 1)
Elmira enters Friday's game with a 7-12 record, including a 3-7 record in Empire 8 play. Fisher beat them in Elmira on Jan. 6, 108-95, as fifth-year forward Daniel Cook and senior forward Brad Fowler scored 18 points each.

The Cardinals are 66-14 all-time against the Soaring Eagles, and haven't lost to Elmira since the 2001-02 season. This season, Elmira has been led by Tyler Cardello, who averages 20.1 points per game- neck and neck with Cook for the conference lead.

Fun Fact: Elmira College is best known for maintaining the site where Mark Twain wrote some of his most famous books.

Know Your Foe (Part 2)
At 8-10 overall and 5-4 in conference play, Alfred currently sits in fourth in the Empire 8. Fisher beat them on Jan. 5, 85-63, behind 13 point nights from Cook and senior forward Connor Recore

The Cardinals hold an all-time mark of 50-23 against the Saxons, but have lost two of their last three, losing twice in the 2022-23 season. This year's Saxons are led by Adam Enders, who averages 12.3 points per game.

Fun fact: Alfred University is the oldest surviving university in New York State to be co-educational from its founding.

2K Watch
Cook has a chance this weekend to reach 2,000 points for his collegiate career. The three-time Empire 8 Player of the Year has scored 1,960 points in college between Fisher and Hobart. If he matches or surpasses his season average of 20.1 points-per-game in both contests this weekend, he will reach the career milestone.

Player To Watch
Graduate student Jack Foley continues to be the Cardinals' top three-point threat. He's hit 44 threes so far this season in 102 attempts, good for a .431 three-point percentage. That's the second-best mark in the entire Empire 8.
