Women's Volleyball Takes Down RIT

PITTSFORD, N.Y. — The St. John Fisher University women's volleyball team opened the final weekend of the regular season with a 3-0 sweep of the RIT Tigers on Friday night at Manning and Napier Varsity Gym. 

The Cardinals won the first set 25-21, the second 25-18 and the third 25-23. They improved to 17-8 overall with the victory, while RIT fell to 18-12. 

The Cardinals conclude the regular season with another non-conference match at noon on Saturday against Clarkson. Seniors Olivia Nellis (middle blocker) and Veronica Carr (manager) will be honored before the game. 

Match Notes

  • The Cardinals had 43 kills and hit .374 as a team, their second-highest percentage in a match this season. 

  • It was the fourth match this season in which the Cardinals hit .300 or better. 

  • Freshman outside hitter Lydia Fraser led the Cardinals with 13 kills and finished with a .462 hitting percentage, her second-highest percentage this season. 

  • Sophomore outside hitter Kyalene Noble had 11 kills and a .333 hitting percentage. 

  • Junior middle blocker Marilyn Whitcavitch had five hills and posted a season-high .400 hitting percentage. 

  • Junior outside hitter/middle blocker Madalyn Bouton had a career-high .500 hitting percentage. 

  • Junior setter Reilly Morrow had 35 assists. She has tallied at least that many in seven matches this season.
