GENESEO, N.Y. – The No. 2-seeded Geneseo Knights (12-4-3) scored twice in the second half in a shutout victory over the No. 3-seeded St. John Fisher women's soccer team (11-6-2) in the Empire 8 semifinals on Wednesday night at College Stadium.
The Knights will host No. 4 Nazareth in the Empire 8 Conference championship game at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Geneseo beat Fisher 2-0 twice this season.
The Cardinals finished the season with 11 wins, the most by a team in program history since at least 2005. They set a program record for Empire 8 regular-season wins (8).
Abby Foster scored both Geneseo goals, first at the 46:39 mark on an assist from Juliette Frischmann. She tallied her second goal of the game at the 63:16 mark on assists from Lindsey Matthews and Lindsey Clar.
Cardinals senior forward Riley Grimm nearly tied the game between those goals, as she sent a rocket off the crossbar in the 58th minute.
St. John Fisher junior goalkeeper Avery Byrnes made two saves.
