ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The St. John Fisher University men's basketball team fell 72-65 to RIT on Saturday night in the Mark's Pizzeria Crosstown Shootout at the University of Rochester's Louis Alexander Palestra.
The Cardinals lost their third straight game and fell to 1-4 overall. RIT snapped a three-game losing skid and improved to 2-3.
The Cardinals, who trailed by seven points at halftime and by as many as 11 in the second half, used an 11-2 run to tie the game at 49 with 11:38 left. The Tigers, however, quickly regained control with an 8-0 run.
Senior forward Eric Kegler scored a career-best 24 points while shooting 9 of 22 overall and 6 of 8 from the foul line. Junior guard Joshua Lopez (17 points) and freshman guard Parker Rey (14 points) also set career highs in points.
Kenny Wilburn led the Tigers with 19 points on 9 of 13 shooting. Chase Dickens, who shot 6 of 12 overall and 2 of 3 from three, scored 16 points. Matt Caggiano had eight points and a game-high 11 assists.
The Tigers scored 21 points off 11 Fisher turnovers. The Cardinals shot just 1 of 15 from three.
Kegler, who has scored at least 15 points in four of Fisher's five games this season, was named to the Mark's Pizzeria Crosstown Classic All-Tournament Team.
