ITHACA, N.Y. – Senior guards Katie Moravec and Sidney Tomasso combined to score 52 points in the St. John Fisher University women's basketball team's 73-67 victory over Ithaca College on Tuesday night at Ben Light Gymnasium.
The Cardinals (3-3, 0-0 Empire 8) snapped a three-game losing skid and beat the Bombers for the first time since the 2015-16 season. Ithaca, which had won five straight games against Fisher, fell to 0-2 overall.
After a back-and-forth first quarter, Fisher built a double-digit lead in the second and maintained a comfortable advantage the rest of the way. The Cardinals had their largest lead of the contest (13 points) in the fourth quarter.
Moravec set career highs in points (26) and free throws made (10 of 13), while she tied her career high in field goals made (8 of 12). She also had four rebounds, four assists and four steals.
Tomasso, Fisher's leading scorer through six games (22 points per game), also scored 26 points. The reigning Empire 8 Player of the Year tied her career high in 3-pointers made (4 of 9) and set a career-high in free throws made (12 of 14). She pulled down six rebounds.
Kelly Moravec added seven points and six rebounds, while sophomore forward Danielle Seamon scored a season-high five points. Emily McLaughlin pulled down a team-high eight rebounds.
The Cardinals as a team shot 43.5% from the field (20-46), 35.5% from 3-point range and 79.4% from the foul line (27-34). They made nine free throws in the first and fourth quarters.

The Cardinals lead the Empire 8 in free throws made (106) and attempted (129). They are the only team in the conference with more than 100 makes and attempts so far this season.
