Miscia Rises In The Record Book

  • Fifth-year linebacker Joe Miscia (404 career tackles, 2021-present) recently passed Todd Lexer (382 tackles, 1989-93) for second on Fisher’s all-time tackles list. 
  • Miscia is one of two players in program history with 400 or more tackles. Mike Fox (478 tackles from 2001-04) is the program's all-time leader. 
  • Miscia, a three-time All-Empire 8 selection, leads the Cardinals and ranks fifth in the Empire 8 in tackles in tackles (70). 
  • Miscia has amassed 10 or more tackles in three games this season (Brockport, Cortland and Morrsiville). 
  • The Wayne, New Jersey, native led Fisher in tackles (96), tackles for a loss (7.5) and interceptions (3) last season. He's been Fisher's leading tackler for three straight seasons.
Vosburgh

Vosburgh Honored 

Vosburgh was inducted into the DeSales Catholic School Hall of Fame as part of its 2024 class on Thursday, Oct. 10. 

Vosburgh, in his 34th year at St. John Fisher, graduated from DeSales in 1971. He has 192 career victories as a collegiate coach over 37 years, including 181 as head coach of the Cardinals, the most in program history. A

 three-time all-league linebacker at DeSales, Vosburgh played collegiately at William Penn University (Iowa). He began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Pittsburg State University in Kansas before returning to DeSales Catholic in 1978 to become the school’s athletic director and head football coach. 

Vosburgh went from one alma mater to another in 1983, joining the William Penn coaching staff as defensive coordinator. He became head coach of that program in 1985 and spent three seasons there before being named the seventh head coach in Fisher football history in 1991. 

A fixture in St. John Fisher’s athletics department and the Division III football community, Vosburgh has won six Empire 8 championships with the Cardinals. He’s led five teams to the NCAA Division III Football Championship and reached the national semifinals in 2006. The Cardinals are 10-5 in the NCAA Division III Football Championship under Vosburgh.

  • The Cardinals will honor their seniors during a cermony before the game on Saturday. 
  • Running backs Camden Chance and Peyton Nolan have made for one of the best backfield tandems in the region this season. Chance leads the team with nearly 400 rushing yards and eight touchdowns, while Nolan has amassed 490 yards with five scores. 
  • Chance’s eight rushing touchdowns are the fourth most in the Empire 8. 
  • The Cardinals have scored three defensive touchdowns this season. Cornerback DeAndre Green and sophomore safety Tim Vanderbrink have returned interceptions for touchdowns, and sophomore linebacker Colin Faust returned a fumble for a touchdown against Hartwick. 
  • Sophomore wide receiver Jackson Cusack set career highs in catches (7) and receiving yards (96) last week against Alfred. 
  • Cusack has caught 19 passes for 280 yards with two touchdowns over Fisher’s last five games. 
  • Fifth-year defensive end Zach Dreisbach leads the Cardinals with 10.5 tackles for a loss of yards and three sacks. He’s tied for second in the Empire 8 in tackles for a loss. 
  • Dreisbach has recorded 6.5 tackles for a loss of yards and two sacks in the Cardinals’ last four games. 

St. John Fisher vs. Utica Series History 

  • The Cardinals are 16-6 against Utica since 2001. 
  • The Pioneers have won the last five games in the series. 
  • Fisher last beat Utica in October 2017 (39-36 in five overtimes). The Cardinals rushed for 241 yards and three scores in that game. 
  • The Cardinals won the first 15 games in the series.
