PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University women's soccer team closed the regular season with a 1-0 loss to crosstown rival Nazareth on Wednesday night at Growney Stadium.
The Cardinals (10-5-2, 8-2-1 Empire 8) will be the No. 3 seed in the Empire 8 Conference Women's Soccer postseason tournament. They face Alfred University in the first round at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Growney Stadium.
Nazareth's Lauryn Obey scored the game's lone goal unassisted about 15 minutes into the second half. The Cardinals had seven shots in the contest, including five on net.
The Cardinals beat Alfred University 2-0 earlier this month as part of a six-game winning streak. They are 16-3-4 against the Saxons since 2005.
The winner of Saturday's playoff game would advance to face No. 2-seeded SUNY Geneseo or No. 7-seeded Houghton on Wednesday, Nov. 6 (time TBD).
