PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University men's basketball team are back in action this weekend after a long break. They will take on Alfred University on the road on Friday before taking their talents to Elmira on Saturday. Fisher will enter the weekend with a 6-5 overall record and 2-0 against Empire 8 opponents.
 
Last Time Out
 
The Cardinals last played on Dec. 18 on the road against Millikin University. Unfortunately, they went into the break with a 78-79 loss to the Big Blue. McRoy led the way with 19 points, with Cook adding 17 points of his own to go with eight rebounds and three steals.
 
Dan The Man
 
Forward, Daniel Cook, is having an impressive season. Through 14 games played and 30.8 minutes per game, he is averaging 21.6 points, 9.9 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.7 steals and 1.4 blocks per game. Cook is first in total points and total rebounds, third in field goal percentage, second in assists, first in blocked shots and fourth in total steals in the Empire 8 Conference.
 
Checking Out The E8
 
With the conference getting ready to go into full swing, the Cardinals are towards the top with a 2-0 conference mark and 6-5 overall record. The Saxons hold a 1-1 conference record and 4-7 overall, while the Soaring Eagles are 0-1 in E8 play and 4-6 on the season.
 
Last season Alfred were the no. 3 seed in the conference playoffs, finishing the regular season with a 22-7 record and 14-4 in conference games. Elmira was on the outside of the playoffs looking in, finishing 7-11 in conference games.
 
What is Next?
 
The Cardinals will finally return home next week as they will welcome Keuka College to town on Tuesday, Jan 9 for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off. They will follow that up with a home contest against Houghton University on Friday, Jan. 12 at 7:30 p.m.
