PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University men's basketball team remained undefeated in conference play on Friday night, beating Houghton, 84-73.

The Cardinals briefly trailed early in the game, 8-7, but retook the lead and never looked back, outscoring the Highlanders 49-38 in the first half and then matching them 35-35 in the second half. 

Sophomore guard Akinlana Popoola led the Cardinals with career-high 17 points off the bench, including going perfect four-for-four from beyond the arc. Graduate forward Daniel Cook led the starters with 12 points and was a key presence in other ways, grabbing six steals, 13 rebounds, five assists, and a block. He was also a perfect eight-for-eight on free throws. 

The Cardinals, now 6-0 in the Empire 8 and 10-5 overall, get back on the court next Tuesday, Jan. 16, at Utica. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 P.M.
