LAST TIME OUT: The St. John Fisher University football team were on the road to begin the season and to on Marietta College. After falling behind in the first half, the Cardinals were unable to mount a comeback and fell to the Pioneers, 31-7.

Chase finished the day going 10-for-23 for 170 yards a touchdown and interception. Peyton Nolan was the main back for the Cardinals, rushing for 79 yards on 11 attempts. Michael Escobar was a favorite target for Chase, catching five balls for 75 yards. In total, seven different Cardinals tallied a reception.

On the defensive side, Joe Miscia finished the day with 14 total tackles including a tackle for loss. Ryan O'Dea led the team with five solo tackles, eight total and one tackle for loss.

HOME OPENER: The Cardinals play their first home game of the year, hosting Hilbert College. Over the last decade (2012-Present) Fisher holds a 34-13 record when playing at Growney Staidum. Last season, they were 3-2 at home, recording wins against Buffalo State, RPI and Hartwick College.

SCOUTING HILBERT: Hilbert will rely in a handful of returning players from the inaugural season to be leaders, and they have welcomed experienced transfers to the starting lineup which will bring energy and understanding to the field. Sophomore QB Brody Hopkins will direct the offense being run by Offensive Coordinator Dallas Tidwell and Defensive Coordinator Jonathan Johnson has shored-up the defense with toughness and discipline.

YEAR TWO FOR HILBERT: Hilbert College enters its second year of college football as an Independent program led by first-year Head Coach Ted Egger.  Egger arrives in Hamburg after serving the last three seasons as the Head Coach at Hocking College (Nelsonville, Ohio)  where he implemented a daily regimen of strict team core values and a rigorous academia-driven study program for his players. The Hawks finished the 2022 season ranked No. 4 in the Division 3 NJCAA Final Poll.  As a direct result of his efforts, those Hawks rose to a 98% graduation rate with an average team GPA of 3.1 over two seasons. Four different players, in 2022, led the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) as Individual Statistical Leaders. The Hilbert Hawks  have worked hard on learning the new system and schemes under Egger's watch.

LOOKING AHEAD: The Cardinals are on the road in Week 3. They will travel to Keystone College for a 1 p.m. kick off.
