Fisher Baseball Sweeps Elmira After Winning 12-4

HORSEHEADS, NY – The St. John Fisher University baseball team traveled to Horseheads, NY, as they took on Elmira College in the final game of a three-game series. After scoring four runs in the top of the first, Fisher went on to win 12-4. After today's result, Fisher moves to an overall record of 24-12 and a conference record of 15-0.
 
In addition, Noah Campanelli's stolen base sets the new career record for stolen bases by a Cardinals. The second-basemen continues his impressive season and looks to push Fisher to a conference title.
 
The Cardinals began the scoring early. In the top of the first, Brian Norsen singled to right field, driving in two runs. Two batters later, Jake Crantz doubled down the left field line, bringing home Norsen. Right after that, Ethan Perry reached on a fielding error, with Dominic Guccia scoring. Keeping the momentum going in the top of the second, James Murphy singled to left field, bringing home two runners. Two batters later, Guccia reached on a fielder's choice, with Nick Lemire scoring. Murphy then scored on a throwing error by the catcher. Crantz singled through the left side, with Guccia scoring, pushing the Cardinals lead to 9-2. In the third inning, Lemire flied out to left field, with Joe Ruggiero scoring. As the game progressed, Norsen doubled to left center in the sixth, bringing home Lemire. Immediately after, Guccia doubled down the left field line, with Norsen scoring. The game ended after nine innings, with Fisher winning 12-4.
 
Starting for the Cardinals, Russell Dunlap pitched the first 4.0 innings, striking out three batters, walking one, allowing six hits and three runs. Christian Maloney pitched the next 2.0 innings, allowing only one hit. Logan Persse relieved Maloney in the seventh and tallied 2.0 innings of one hit, one run ball before turning it over to Bryce Collis. Collis pitched the final inning, only walking one batter.

Up next, Fisher returns home, as they take on Utica University for games one and two of a three-game series. The doubleheader will take place on Saturday, May. 6., with the first pitch at Dugan Yard set for 1:00 p.m.
