Men’s Lacrosse Dominate in Road Win Against Keuka College

KEUKA, N.Y. - The St. John Fisher University men's lacrosse team traveled to compete against Keuka College on Wednesday night for an Empire 8 match up. At the end of regulation, the Cardinals won by a 26-2 final score. Fisher jumps to 2-8 overall and 2-0 in conference play, while the Wolves fall to 4-3 overall and are 0-2 in conference match ups.

To get the scoring started for Fisher, Samuel Miller puts one away, unassisted at the 10:49 minute mark. In the next possession, the Cardinals force a Wolves turnover to keep it in the offensive end. Matt Slowinski capitalizes off an assist from Lane Edinger to go up by two early. With 5:19 to go in the first, Andrew Corbin causes a Keuka turnover and the ball is picked up by Hunter Gentry who gets it to the offensive end. As Fisher is looking for the right scoring opportunity, Brett Seaman finds Miller for his second of the night, Cardinals go up 4-0. To close out the first quarter, Brady Mason gets his second and Timmy Salit gets on the board to head into the second quarter up 6-0.

The Wolves get on the board 20 seconds into the second quarter to make it 6-1. The Cardinals took over from there. Miller gets a first half hat trick and starts a scoring run for Fisher. At the 8:20 minute mark, after possessing the ball for a quality shot, Braeden McNeill gets a tally, assisted by Mason, Fisher leads 9-1. With just three minutes left until halftime, the Cardinals put away three more goals. Miller records two of them, for his fifth goal of the night, and Edinger his first. The Cardinals recorded seven straight goals and go into halftime leading 13-1.

As the third quarter began, the Cardinals quickly took over. Evan Pashalides took advantage of a Keuka turnover and put it in the back of the net for his first tally of the night. Logan Grom takes it to cage right from the face off to get on the board and get his first goal of the season. With 10:03 to go in the third, Pashalides picks up an offensive rebound, and puts it in the back of the net to get his second of the night and bring the Cardinals lead to 18-3. Fisher records four more goals throughout the reminder of the third to go into the fourth quarter with a score of 22-1.

Keuka secured the first face off of the fourth and took it to cage hard, Tyler Manning held strong in net and recorded the save. Fisher failed to clear the ball and Manning saw a shot soon after, getting another save on the night. With 12:06 left in regulation, Dan Delaney gets his first goal of the season with a hard drive the cage, Fisher leads 23-1. Pashalides gets his third and fourth goal  just 15 seconds apart with 5:30 remaining. Keuka gets on the board for their second goal of the night and the final goal of the contest with 4:09 on the clock. As time runs out, the Cardinals held strong and came out on top by a score of 26-2.

Miller led the team in goals, finishing with five and tallying one ground ball. Mason was right behind with four goals and one assist, adding two ground balls and one caused turnover. Pashalides ended the day with four goals on five shots and one ground ball. The face off unit won 25 of the 32 face offs taken, finishing with a .78 face off percentage. On the defensive end, Brian Jantz and Jake Slowinski recorded two ground balls and two caused turnovers each.

Up next for the Cardinals, the team will host Utica University on Saturday, April 8 at 1pm.
